Abstract

Liturgy and literature can converge around the importance that the text or, more concretely, the book, assumes, both in the religious and the cultural and aesthetic spheres. A certain rituality is presupposed and activated by literature, in the same way that the liturgy is related to the Bible as its privileged context of believing enunciation. Thus, after a theological entry into the world of literature with the aim of determining the possibilities of a literary theology by highlighting the cultural and religious dynamics and importance of the text mediation, this study focuses on the comparison between the literary and the liturgical ritualization of the act of reading.

Author Biography

Ângelo Cardita, Université Laval (ULaval) – Québec, Canadá

Mestre em Liturgia pelo Instituto Superior de Liturgia (2001) e doutor em Teologia Sistemática pelo Pontifício Ateneu S. Anselmo, em Roma (2006). Realizou pesquisas pós-doutorais na Universidade de Coimbra, na abadia cisterciense de Heiligenkreuz, Áustria, na Universidade Católica de Leuven, Bélgica, e na Universidade Federal de São Carlos, Brasil. Foi professor no Instituto Superior de Liturgia de Barcelona, na Faculdade de Teologia da Universidade Católica Portuguesa e na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Lusófona de Porto. Atualmente é professor agregado da Faculdade de Teologia e Ciências Religiosas da Universidade de Laval, Québec, Canadá.
