Abstract

Este artigo apresenta um estudo sobre as relações entre memórias, imaginário e telenovelas. Utilizando depoimentos de telespectadores da região do Grande ABC (estado de São Paulo), colhidos por meio da metodologia da História Oral, articula memórias individuais sobre as telenovelas e o contexto sociopolítico das décadas de 1970 e 1980. Como resultado, apresenta a percepção de um gradual despertar dos entrevistados para a complexidade da relação TV-sociedade, e também a ação de uma visão retroativa sobre a qualidade das telenovelas (as novelas atuais precipitando uma visão de que as novelas anteriores eram melhores). Por fim, aponta para a fecundidade desse caminho metodológico: o estudo das memórias como uma ferramenta para a compreensão da influência da telenovela sobre o imaginário social.
