Some appointments about professional intervention of social worker in the area of urban violence

Abstract

This paper proposes elements for an analysis about professional intervention of social workers in the area of urban violence. Its empirical reference is the statements of professionals of Social Service and of authorities who managed, between 2000 and 2001, proposals of social work and actions of public security. These informants practiced their activities in tree important areas of the city of São Paulo: Jardim Ângela, Capão Redondo e Santo Amaro.
