Syntactic Inferences in Interface

Abstract

In this article, we attempted to demonstrate how syntax, semantics, morphology, and pragmatics are related in the formation of meaning in natural language. Special focus has been given to syntax, because sometimes, how this can interfere in the sense of a sentence is underestimated. For the analysis of excerpts from Folha Online to illustrate how linguistic deviations can affect or initiate an inferential process, the approach adopted was based on Relief Theory (Sperber and Wilson, 1995) and studies developed, also, from the perspective of this.
