We adopt a narratological standpoint to think of comics as an eminently iterative medium. To this end, we investigate two regimes of repetition in the “ninth art.” First, we examine the modes of iteration as part of the narratologically effective use of the “space-topical system” of comics (with its structural and functional implications for the production of intrigue, in items such as the logical syntax of actions, the rhetorical strategies of narrative exposition and the patterns of frequency and progress of the representation of events); Next, we will evaluate the iteration as part of more specific poetic programs in the art of comics, which singles out the performance of these discursive operations with repetition, setting up trademarks or more recent schools of sequential art, gathered as traces of a possible narrative stylistic. based on iterativity (and committed to valuing thematic universes such as boredom).
