This paper proposes an articulation between Jacques Derrida’s theory of writing and epistemological reflections concerning Communication. The argument, critically built on the basis of an exploratory bibliographical research, consists in reconstructing the notion of writing in Derrida, first highlighting its technical character and then its operationalization in the discourse as traces; traits that bring it closer to a medial reflection. From this, we demonstrate how this thought of the trace is expressed in (and expresses the) communicational materiality in its actualization by Bernard Stiegler and his concept of grammatization. Finally, as a experimental analysis of the operation of this theory, we conduct a reading of algorithmic performativity as a contemporary expression of communicational writing. This path ends up demarcating the heuristic potential of this perspective for the current research on mediatic writings – and for Communication Epistemology itself.
