ABSTRACT
Fables test: comparing sheltered children common responses to popular responses from the normative sample
In projective tests, popular responses refers to the opinion that someone shares with his/her group. These answers may vary in different contexts as the case of sheltered children. Therefore, this study aims to describe the most frequent answers of the children in this situation, comparing these responses to the normative sample. Sixty two children participated in the study, from 4 years and 9 months old to 11 years and 8 months old, all living in shelters in Porto Alegre and Canoas, RS. The instruments were: Sociodemographic questionnaire, Raven Progressive Colored Matrices and Fables Test. Considering the sample, it was chosen to denominate as common and not as popular those responses that occur at least 25% in the sample. Data indicated differences in Fables Test´s common and popular responses when sheltered children and normative sample were compared. These answers allude to the conflicts of the situation of abandonment lived in the case of sheltered children.
Key words: Fables Test; sheltered children; popular responses.
