Abstract

The discussion on a family model – the one consisting by father, mother and its children – that appears in recurrent form in the media is the mote of this article, whose given data come from a research concerning the discourses of the media regarding the paternity. The analyses that I carry through, in tunning with the perspective of the Cultural Studies and the Foucaultian Studies, focus the power relations implied in the cultural production of the nets of significations. Thus, I show as, along the time and from different fields of knowledge/power, this model of family has been constructed and naturalizing, who seems to receive the status of ‘normal’ family in varied media products. Reflections concerning the importance of the media in the process of subjetivation in the contemporary world and the subjective implications of the hegemonic character of this model cross the text. Keyword: Family; media; power relations.
