Abstract

The objective of this bibliography research was exploring the methods of investigation in the search with the caregivers of elderly with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This review focused the research published between the years 2004 and 2009, through systematic searches conducted in electronic databases, such as LILACS, MEDLINE, PsycINFO and SCIELO. 28,959 publications were found related to the caregivers: MEDLINE (21,308), PsycINFO (6723), LILACS (739) and SciELO (189). The refinement of the search allowed the localization of specific researchs about caregivers of elderly people with AD and demonstrated that the quantitative and empirical methods of research are present in most studies. Research offering qualitative methods and/or the integration of qualitative and quantitative methods are suggested, since the results indicated that the choice of method of qualitative analysis was limited.

Possui graduação em Psicologia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1997), especialização em Psicologia Clínica: ênfase em Avaliação Psicológica pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2004), mestrado em Psicologia Clínica pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (2001) e doutorado em Ciências Médicas: Psiquiatria pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2004). Atualmente é professor adjunto nível II da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul e chefe do Departamento de Psicologia do Desenvolvimento e da Personalidade. Foi Editora Associada da Revista Psicologia: Reflexão e Crítica, área Avaliação Psicológica no período de 2006 a 2009. Tem experiência na área de Psicologia, com ênfase em Avaliação Psicológica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: construção, adaptação e normatização de instrumentos, qualidade de vida, habilidades cognitivas, idosos e avaliação psicológica e neuropsicológica.

Marcia Toralles Avila Gonçalves, UFRGS

Possui graduação em Psicologia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (2001), Especialização em Psicologia Clínica, com ênfase em Avaliação Psicológica pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2005). Atualmente está finalizando o mestrado na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Desenvolveu dissertação envolvendo Cuidadores de Idosos com Alzheimer. Possui experiência na área de Psicologia Clínica e Organizacional, com ênfase em Avaliação Psicológica.
