Habermas’s deliberative politics

Abstract

In order to address modern disenchanted sociologies, such as the theory of rational decision and the theory of systems which recall the inevitable moments of inertia that hamper rational deliberation, Habermas conceives of a sociological reconstruction of deliberative democracy so as to divide society into a center, formed by institutions of the rule of law which make decisions, and a periphery, constituted by the public sphere out of which public opinion emerges, based on the problems originated by the private sphere and that, in extraordinary conditions, may reverse the flux of power and impose the communicative power upon instances of the rule of law.
