The research aimed to adapt the Teamwork Scale for Youth for the Brazilian sport context, estimate the first validity evidence based on the internal structure, the relationship with external variables (Passion for Sport and Motivational Climate) and reliability. The sample consisted of 250 athletes, aged 14 to 24 years (mean 18.4 ± 2.38, 59.2% women). Experts judge analysis and pilot study indicated content validity. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) indicated the adequacy of the one-dimensional structure capable of explaining 59.35% of the data variance. Reliability indicators greater than 0.85 showed a good level of internal consistency. In accordance with theoretical expectations, there was a positive association between the ability to work in groups with the convergent variables Harmonious Passion and Task-Oriented Motivational Climate. The results ensure the first validity evidence for the Brazilian version of TSY and suggest that the instrument is an adequate measure of the perception of teamwork in young athletes.
