Learning strategies are resources students employ when they are learning and studying. They are aimed at enhancing the acquisition, the storage and the application of the information. The objective of the present research was to investigate gender, school grade level and age-related differences in the learning strategies of basic education students. The sample consisted of 815 students from 2nd to 8th grade of both public and private schools of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. A Learning Strategy Scale (37 items version) was collectively administered. Results of the T test of Student showed significant gender differences in participants’ scores in the scale. ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc analyses also evinced age and school grade related differences in the participants´ scores in the scale. Data is discussed in terms of their educational implications.Downloads
